Picking a Winner: Sony Open

We’re 1-for-1 in 2020 after JT opened the year with a compelling win at Kapalua. Despite a pretty wild playoff between JT, Xander Schauffele and Patrick Reed, it was the least stressful playoff I’ve ever watched due to having outright bets on all three guys (not a big deal). Reed would’ve returned the biggest payout but I’m a big JT guy so was happy to see him win.

To reiterate from last week, I pick 5 players each event based on my weekly spreadsheet (you can see it below) to win, and whichever head-to-head matches that (again according to my sheet) carry the most value.

Last weeks picks finished 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 19th, 19th and in matchups were 3-1. Solid start. Again this week we are in Hawaii, where historically players who competed the week before at Kapalua have had a distinct advantage. My five this week are as follows:

1 – Justin Thomas
2 – Webb Simpson
3 – Russell Knox
4 – Patrick Reed
5 – Sungjae Im

This weeks Matchups are:
Russell Knox vs Carlos Ortiz
Brian Stuard vs Andrew Putnam
Colin Morikawa vs Matt Kuchar

And for proof I’m not just picking these out of mid-air, here is my research spreadsheet. Enjoy and Good Luck!
